Welcome to Ludeke Publishing. A Tasmanian business established in 2001 to publish the book Tasmania’s Maria Island:
A Comprehensive History and visitor’s Guide, the business has now produced a number of books and resources and
clothing relevant to Maria Island National Park in Tasmania. Ludeke Publishing also provides a proofreading service.
Tasmania's Maria Island: A Comprehensive History and Visitor's Guide. This book was first released in 2001 and sold out. A second edition was created and was launched on Tasmania's east coast in November 2005 by the Federal Member for Lyons, Dick Adams MP. The book delves into the fascinating history of one of Tasmania's oldest penal settlements which lies 88 kilometres northeast of Hobart (by air). The full history of the island is examined including: the Tasmanian Aboriginal history on Maria Island, convict settlements on the island in two different eras, the island's two industrial eras which saw cement and wine as a key focus, agricultural eras and the island's current national park status. After the history is examined, a detailed visitors' guide is designed to allow the visitor to learn about buildings, ruins or sites on the island while visiting to make the most out of their Maria Island experience. This includes the mapping of all buildings, ruins or sites, flora and fauna, shipwrecks, geology and walks (for both day trips and extended trips). Order cost $35.00, $32.00 each (two copies) or $30.00 each for three or more copies. Books are also available at the visitor centre on Maria Island. Click here to see a large image of the book cover.
