Author - Michael Ludeke


Michael Ludeke was born in Hobart, Tasmania in 1974 and attended a number of local primary and high schools. He matriculated from Elizabeth College in 1992 and completed a Bachelor of Education with Honours and teaching in a number of schools in northern and southern Tasmania. After some time, Michael commenced work as a policy analyst with the Tasmania Government before taking a completely different tact when, in late 2002, he commenced working as a funeral director. He completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in business management in 2007.

In 2008 Michael commenced managing Motel Mayfair on Cavell, a Hobart business that was developed by his Great Grandfather, Bernard, in the 1960s. After Bernard's death in 1975 Michael's "Aunt" Matty continued the business until her retirement in 2007.

Michael released his first book Tasmania's Maria Island: A Comprehensive History and Visitor's Guide in 2001 before releasing a second edition in 2005. His second book The Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race: 1945 - 2001, was released in 2002. Ten Events Shaping Tasmania's History was launched in July 2007.

Presently, Michael lives in Hobart with his wife, Deborah, and his children, Brandon, Emily and Lachlan.
